The Nursing Council of New Zealand will usually require overseas applicants to demonstrate their ability to communicate and comprehend English. Applicants will be notified, whether they are required to provide evidence of English proficiency after their application has been assessed.
The Nursing Council of New Zealand will accept any of the following as evidence:
You can achieve the minimum score in the English language tests over more than one sitting, however, the required score must be met within 12 months of first sitting the test, and less than three years old when your CGFNS report is submitted to Nursing Council.
Please note that the Nursing Council of New Zealand does not accept computer-based tests for IELTS, OET and OET@home
- An academic IELTS assessment with a minimum score of 7.0 for each band: reading, listening, writing, and speaking. (Clubbing of scores of different sections of different exam results within 365 days will be accepted)
- The Occupational English Test (OET) with a B band in each section. (Clubbing of scores of different sections of different exam results within 365 days will be accepted)
